Berlusconi: AC Milan would take Inter's Adriano

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi admits he's be interested in signing Inter's rebel striker Adriano.

"There is no team in the world that would not take him."

Barcelona's Eto'o: Ronaldinho never like before

Samuel Eto'o insists Ronaldinho doesn't need to rediscover the form of previous years at Barcelona.

The Cameroon striker said: "Sometimes, when you do not match the expectations of people, they criticize you. But it is not over one or two games that they should criticize.

"For me, he continues being the one of before, but the Ronaldinho that dribbles past nine players was four years ago. A lot happens over four years in football, Ronie now is a different player.

"We are not going to see him like he was nor do we want him to. Now there are others who can play that sort of way."

Suggesting it was Lionel Messi who was taking over Ronaldinho's mantle, Eto'o added: "I hope what he is doing now continues for his entire career. There are few players at his level today."

Excelsior says Club America are seeking 7 million for Ochoa.

"It's a great league (England), without doubt one of the best, it would be very competitive and very exciting," said the goalkeeper.

"My departure would depend on conditions that are favorable to the club and obviously for me.

"I see it being very close, either happening in December or July."

Clarke yet to pen new Chelsea contract

Chelsea are waiting for assistant manager Steve Clarke to sign a new £500,000-a-year contract.

The Daily Express says Clarke, previously a highly valued No2 to Grant's predecessor Jose Mourinho, had hinted that he was going to leave the London club after the Portuguese left.

But the former Chelsea and Scotland player, who had been sought as a manager in his own right by Leicester and QPR at the start of the season, was persuaded to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Clarke now takes on a bigger role in the preparation of the team for games alongside new Dutch coach Henk Ten Cate, with Grant acting as the overseer - and he has been offered a new, improved deal to compensate for those increased duties.

But the Scot has still not signed the new contract, which was presented to him three weeks ago.

O'Neil: Middlesbrough must get nasty

Gary O'Neil admits Middlesbrough must start grinding out results.

"We can't afford to think that we're too good to be in this position," O'Neil said. "We're in a scrap and we've got to accept it. I think we need to win games as ugly as we can.

"In the second half, we really got at Spurs and played forward a bit more. Maybe we didn't play as good a brand of football as we have done. We were a little bit more direct and caused them more problems. Possibly that's the answer, certainly in the short term. No one could deny that we've played some nice stuff, but we haven't got the results. We have to make ourselves harder to beat - more nasty, in their faces, win ugly, that kind of thing.

"We are still confident of having a decent season. It's never easy playing football when you're down at the bottom. It's a tough position to be in. We have a lot of young players and it's important everyone steps up, accepts responsibility, accepts the ball and still tries to play."

Man Utd boss Ferguson facing FA probe

Howard Webb

The FA are set to investigate comments made by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about ref Howard Webb after their 2-2 draw at Arsenal.

BBC Sport says Ferguson accused the official of being biased towards the Gunners during the 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

"He has a chance to be the top referee but it was a big game and, at times, he favoured Arsenal," Ferguson told MUTV.

"Their second goal came from him not giving a free-kick for a foul on Louis Saha. It should've been a foul for us."

However, Ferguson added that he believed it was difficult for referees not be influenced by hostile home crowds.

Alex Ferguson

"It is very hard for the referee," he stated. "On our bench, we were getting terrible abuse from people two or three feet away from us.

"There is a lack of security. It is absolutely disgraceful the abuse you and your staff take. All sorts of things are being shouted and screamed at you and there is an absolute danger here."

Tottenham seek West Ham groundshare

Tottenham are seeking to emulate the success of Arsenal's Emirates stadium.

BBC Sport says Tottenham have turned to a man who played a major role in the development of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium to help them build a venue of similar quality.

Tony Winterbottom, formerly of the London Development Authority, is now masterminding plans to expand Spurs' White Hart Lane ground to about 52,000.

The project would cost in the region of £300m of which £150m would be borrowed.

But it would mean Spurs vacating White Hart Lane for two seasons, prompting a possible ground share with West Ham.

Another solution might be to share the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal but that seems fraught with difficulty, particularly with the present rivalry between the fans.

Consequently, there is also talk of Tottenham playing some matches at a ground outside London.

Liverpool's Crouch has Besiktas concerned

Besiktas coach Ertugrul Saglam regards Peter Crouch's as Liverpool's biggest attacking threat tonight.

Saglam, who returns to the touchline after being banned from the dugout for the Turks' 2-1 win over Liverpool last month, fears Crouch can exploit the visitors weakened defence at Anfield tonight with central defender Gokhan Zan, missing.

"Crouch is an important player," said Saglam. "His height gives him an advantage over virtually every defender.

"We do not have Gokhan for this match, and I am aware of the advantage that will give Liverpool. Competing against someone with his physique is always difficult."

Inter Milan's Adriano cool on West Ham move

Inter Milan striker Adriano is expected to turn down a new approach from West Ham United ahead of the January market.

Allardyce must make do without Given against Sunderland and, possibly, Liverpool. It is a little bit of a worry because it is another groin injury but it is not as fearful as we first thought."

Sunderland boss Keane admits attacking quality on transfer agenda

Sunderland boss Roy Keane admits they're missing the decisive quality needed to win games in the Premiership after last night's defeat at Manchester City.

"This was a good example of where we're short," said Keane, his options limited as he attempts to inspire a change in fortune. "I don't remember Manchester City's keeper having to make a save. Craig (Gordon) didn't have much to do. But they've produced that bit of quality, that's the difference in this league.

"It's such a fine line. They're third and you might think there's not much between us on this evidence. But they've scored and we haven't and we've lost the game.

"The hardest part (in the Premier League) is doing it in the final third, that's why good strikers and playmakers are so hard to get. We lack those qualities at the moment. City weren't at their best out there.

"But these teams still have those moments of quality, even when they're not at their best. It was the same at West Ham (last month) and

Veloso calm over Man Utd, Real Madrid interest

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso is playing interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid close to his chest.

The Portugal international said: "I may leave at the end of the season, but it will be Sporting Lisbon that decides that. Only if it is good for me and even better for Sporting ... which is the most important ... will I leave.

"For now, I do not know anything and Sporting haven't said anything to me."

Asked about United and Real's interest, Veloso added: "Perhaps it's just rumours, I don't know. I'm happy enough at Sporting for now."

Liverpool, Man Utd forced to bid early for Menez

Manchester United and Liverpool may be forced into bidding early for AS Monaco midfielder Jeremy Menez.

Both Premiership giants are monitoring the 20 year-old this season with a view to moving for the playmaker in the summer.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is ready to release significant transfer funds in January and a deal for Menez is high on the agenda.

United and Liverpool have made contact with Monaco in the last month about Menez's situation, however Inter believe they have the inside-running having struck a good relationship with the French club during negotiations for wing-back Maicon last year.

Jol raps attitude of Tottenham's Berbatov

Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol has slammed the attitude of striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Jol remains full of admiration for the striker's repertoire of skills but concedes he is not the ideal player to have in your side in times of toil.

He told the Daily Express: "At St James' Park (when Berbatov appeared reluctant to come on as a substitute), a lot had been made in the media about Berbatov's attitude, that he didn't want to come on because he was sulking at being on the bench.

"Normally Chris Hughton would tell the players to warm up, but not this time. However, he didn't seem that keen to do it.

"I turned my shoulder again and this time looked him in the eye and told him 'come on, warm up' and he began to warm up.

"He never said he didn't want to come on, but that's how it has been perceived. But that's Berbatov, he always seems reluctant to do anything.

"Gifted, yes. But he is not a fighter. Perhaps you need others who are fighters to balance out the team."

Ferguson: Latest Man Utd team keeps me young

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he can't believe he's completing 21 years at Old Trafford today.

And Fergie, 65, reckons the latest crop of United players keep any thoughts of retirement on the back burner.

He said: "It's amazing to think I've been here for 21 years.

"I've certainly had the key to the door for a while now!

"I guess I have to think about retiring at some stage but I still have plenty of ambition here and these young lads make me feel younger.

"I'm proud of the current team - they need a little bit of direction at times but they're showing fantastic enthusiasm for the game and there's a great spirit among them.

"At last Friday's training session I had to get Carlos Queiroz to tell them to stop because it was too good.

"We were due to play Arsenal the next day and I wanted them to keep that kind of football for the Saturday!"
